The Chase viewers branded one contestant as "patronising" on tonight's show, when contestant Shirley stepped up to the plate.

Deciding between Chaser Mark Labbett's low offer of £1,000, and the middle offer of £3,000, Shirley turned to her teammates for advice.

Wrestling-fan David suggested Shirley ought to plump for the low offer, adding that she could "fill in the gaps" in their knowledge.

However, Shirley refused the low offer, and stuck to her guns by opting for the middle offer – much to viewers' delight. She announced: "I've got to play fairly." Taking to Twitter, certain viewers branded David's comment as "patronising," as they backed Shirley's decision to stay in the middle.
