Tesco and Asda cut petrol costs below £1 per litre in fuel price war

Fuel prices have been cut at Tesco and Asda after a crash in demand has forced costs to drop to less than £1. Asda followed Morrisons by identically matching their petrol and diesel costs to fall below the £1 per litre mark.

Petrol at the two retailers are now 99.7p per litre across the country with diesel costs at 104.7p per litre. Supermarket giant Tesco has also slashed prices, with bosses cutting petrol costs to less than £1 per litre in line with their rivals.

But the store has kept prices slightly higher with petrol retailing for 99.9p per litre and diesel for 105.9p per litre. It has the largest petrol station network in the UK with more than 500 petrol stations across the nation.
