Bella Italia owner to reopen 'majority' of branches in August after axing 91 outlets

The owner of some of the UK's biggest restaurant chains has said it will reopen hundreds of branches next month, despite entering administration a fortnight ago.

The Casual Dining Group, which owns Cafe Rouge, Las Iguanas and Bella Italia said workers will return from furlough in August with the 'majority' of restaurants to reopen.

The move comes despite the firm being in administration - with 91 branches to permanently close and more than 1,000 jobs at risk.

In a statement, the company said it will also take part in the government's eat out to help out scheme from next month, which will offer visitors 50% off mid-week meals out, up to the value of £10 per head. "We expect most of our restaurants to recommence trading at the beginning
