A teenager drowned in a canal before his body was recovered by police, an inquest heard. Rodney Zinoro, 18, was pulled out of the Bridgewater Canal on the morning of May 21.
An inquest into his death opened at Bolton Coroners' Court yesterday (June 2). Police coroner's officer Neil McCaffrey told the court Mr Zinoro, of Balmoral Drive, Higher Folds, was recovered from the water by Greater Manchester Police's underwater search team.
Mr Zinoro, originally from Zimbabwe, was already dead. He was identified by his fingerprints. Assistant coroner for Manchester West, Catherine Cundy, confirmed the provisional cause of Mr Zinoro's death was drowning, pending histology and toxicology reports.
