While their initial filing did not include explicit evidence as to how Lipa copied ‘Live Your Life’, the band alleged that she had “access” to the track.Now, per a Billboard report, US District Judge Sunshine Sykes has temporarily dismissed the case in favour of Dua Lipa, saying that Artikal Sound System have been unable to substantiate their accusations.In their lawsuit, the reggae band offered up one theory that claims one of Dua Lipa’s co-writers had in the past worked with someone who was reportedly taught the guitar by a brother-in-law of one of the band’s members.“These attenuated links, which bear little connection to either of the two musical compositions at issue here, also do not suggest a reasonable likelihood that defendants actually encountered plaintiffs’ song,” Judge Sykes wrote, per Billboard.However, the case isn’t completely closed, as Judge Sykes has ruled that Artikal Sound System have until June 16 to refile their complaint if they are able to provide substantial evidence to back up their accusations.NME has reached to the respective management for both Dua Lipa and Artikal Sound System for comment.Earlier this month, Dua Lipa criticised the British government’s “small-minded and shortsighted” attitude to migrants.

With Burna Boy headlining day one and Wizkid taking the stage on day two, Afro Nation Miami had an unmistakable African essence, fusing afrobeats, amapiano, and reggae. The festival featured two distinct stages: the Audiomack Amapiano stage, featuring eclectic South African sounds, and the MainStage, with afrobeats and reggae. Mavado, Shenseea and an array of other acts covered the dancehall and reggae genres, while afrobeat aficionados were spoilt for choices with Asake, Black Sherif, Rema, Fireboy DML and the charismatic Uncle Waffles (who is female), among others. In addition, Anthony’s long-time business partner Asani Swann, who co-founded the basketball star’s production company Creative 7, will also serve as an executive producer on the show. They are joining the production as it looks to find a regional theater where it hopes to fine-tune the show before possibly mounting a Broadway return. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks, best known for “Topdog/Underdog,” penned the adaptation of the 1972 Jamaican crime film. That movie and now the show feature music from Reggae icon Jimmy Cliff. Also involved is Justine Henzell, whose father Perry Henzell co-wrote and directed the movie.

For his menacing cinematic debut, Cliff provided the lion’s share of the film’s riveting soundtrack, with lilting songs such as “You Can Get It If You Really Want” and the movie’s title tune.
