Metric singer Emily Haines has spoken of how their new album ‘Art Of Doubt‘ “100% reflects the political mess” the world is in, and focusses us people’s “flaws and owning the humanity of your existence”.Released last week, ‘Art Of Doubt’ is the Canadian indie veterans’ seventh studio album – the first since 2015’s ‘Pagans In Vegas’, with the band returning to a more guitar-driven sound. Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds gig in New York was cancelled midway through due to a bomb threat.During Gallagher’s show at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs on Saturday (July 8), a message appeared on screens in the venue instructing people to proceed to the exits, which read: “Due to circumstances beyond our control, the show will not continue.”The NYS Park Police later confirmed that a bomb threat was the reason for the show’s abrupt cancellation.A statement from the police read: “New York State Police, City of Saratoga Springs Police, Troy Police, and Saratoga Co. Sheriff’s Department responded to a bomb threat at Saratoga Performing Arts Center Saturday. Out of an abundance of caution, the concert was suspended at 9:40 pm Saturday and concert attendees were evacuated without incident.”Update: It was a bomb threat, per NYS Park Police.

Metric have spoken about how their new album ‘Formentera’ helped the band move forward through the uncertainty of the pandemic – while also reflecting on their two decades in music and the indie sleaze phenomenon.Speaking to NME in the run-up to the release of their eighth album, frontwoman Emily Haines described the new release, which arrives on Friday (July 8), as “probably the most important record that we can make other than our first album”.“Logistically, we could not get our band across the border and that was the longest we’ve gone without playing a show since we started,” Haines explained of working on the record during the pandemic. “There was a sense that this could actually be it – a lot of people are not going to bounce back in our industry.
