Red Velvet leader Irene has made her solo debut with the release of her first mini-album ‘Like A Flower’.The mini-album was released alongside a music video for its lead single of the same name. In the clip, Irene is listening to a cassette tapes in the back of a parked mini-van, which is equipped with audio equipment as she spies on and records a girl on her way to give a boy a bouquet of flowers.

Red Velvet member Irene has officially announced her long-awaited solo debut with her first mini-album ‘Like A Flower’, due out later this month.SM Entertainment announced the K-pop idol’s solo debut on November 4 at midnight KST with a post to Red Velvet’s official social media. The label posted a teaser image containing a painted illustration of Irene surrounded by flowers and butterflies, alongside details for Irene’s solo debut.Slated to be her first mini-album, ‘Like A Flower’ is due out on November 26 at 6pm KST.

Leo Barraclough International Features Editor Variety has been given access to the first clip from “Why War,” written and directed by Israeli filmmaker Amos Gitai. The film, starring Irène Jacob, Mathieu Amalric, Micha Lescot and Jérôme Kircher, has its world premiere on Aug. 31 at the Venice Film Festival in an out of competition berth.

But HBO Documentary Films is proving that despite being part of a corporate conglomerate, it still wants content that doesn’t necessarily pertain to bold faced names, salacious murders or cults. Proof is Irene Taylor‘s “Trees and Other Entanglements,” a feature doc that uses trees as the main throughline to tell various subject’s personal stories.

Michaela Zee editor Irene Papas, the Greek actress known for such films as “Zorba the Greek,” “Z” and “The Guns of Navarone,” has died. She was 93. Greece’s Ministry of Culture and Sports confirmed the news Wednesday in a statement. Papas starred in over 70 films and stage productions throughout her career spanning nearly six decades, from Hollywood features to French and Italian cinema. She also appeared in dozens of Greek tragedies, including the title role in the 1961 film adaptation of “Antigone.” Born on Sept. 3, 1929, in the village of Chiliomodi near Corinth, Papas began her acting studies as a teenager and later worked on multiple film and TV projects in the ’40’s and ’50s, including “The Man from Cairo,” “The Unfaithfuls,” “Bouboulina” and “Attila,” among others.
