BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty mocks Charlie Stayt over ‘ongoing wig debate’
Naga Munchetty joked that she and Charlie Stayt are perhaps the only duo on TV where the man has shorter hair than the woman - and admitted that there is plenty of interest in where her co-star gets his luscious locks. During a new interview, she poked fun at the continuous question of whether he wears a wig. When the "perennial question" was raised, Naga didn't have to enquire further about what the interviewer meant."Oh, you mean, ‘Does Charlie wear a wig?’" she chortled, adding mischievously: " I always say ‘Yes, he does!'"It’s an ongoing debate,” Charlie groaned in response as the pair chatted to the Radio Times.“It’s even been addressed by Liza Minnelli, who leaned forward and pulled my hair just to test it."However, the BBC host is resigned to the constant curiosity, admitting that as he is on a family-oriented TV show each morning, where viewers "have the right, in a nice way, to engage with you".Naga then joked: "In terms of hair, I think we are the only duo in telly where the woman has shorter hair than the man.”Meanwhile, one follower stated that they were so curious to know whether or not he wore a hairpiece that they struggled to concentrate on what he was saying.Charlie was previously praised by singer Lewis Capaldi for his "great hair".However, Naga teasingly mouthed the words: "It's a wig!" in response."It’s a wig, is it? I didn’t say that.

BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt issued stern warning after risking fire
Naga Munchetty, 47, and Charlie Stayt, 60, were reprimanded by the London Fire Brigade over the weekend for risking starting a fire in the BBC Breakfast studio. The BBC presenters were called out by the fire and rescue service on Twitter. Naga and Charlie were advised to take much more care in the future by the London branch of the emergency services. In a sternly-worded tweet, London Fire Brigade included a screenshot of the pair sitting on the red sofa in the BBC studios, where a laptop was placed next to Naga on top of a pile of papers.Another image showed a fire-ravaged sofa and laptop, to demonstrate what can happen when laptops overheat. The caption read: "Not the first time we're reminding @BBCBreakfast presenters not to have the laptops on the sofa and even worse on top of paper. “Using them on a fabric surface or paper can result in a lack of airflow and can cause them to overheat,” the London Fire Brigade warned. This story comes after Naga admitted earlier this year that she once had to be rescued by the fire brigade.Back in January, Naga revealed on BBC Radio 5 Live that she had once been saved by the fire brigade after she got trapped in a school. The presenter was discussing stories of people “getting stuck” in the wake of the news that cabinet minister Michael Gove had missed an television interview that morning after getting stuck in a BBC lift.Cheerfully recalling her own experience of “getting stuck”, Naga detailed her “exciting” experience of being rescued by the fire brigade.“I once was rescued by the fire brigade, “ she began. “It was a rather fantastic experience.“I was very young; I was about 19.

Steph McGovern admits she forced herself to 'starve' for BBC Breakfast ‘It was horrendous'
Steph McGovern, 40, has admitted she would force herself not to eat anything while filming early morning segments for BBC Breakfast. The Steph's Packed Lunch star explained she would not eat until after filming was finished, even if she was starving, on account of her IBS.Over the past few years, Steph has also been very open about her struggles with her IBS on TV, which has helped make other people feel more comfortable to talk about their health issues publicly.According to the NHS website, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common condition that affects the digestive system. It causes symptoms like stomach cramps, bloating, diarrhoea and constipation - and it’s usually a lifelong problem. When asked if she ever felt like her gut was particularly bad when getting up for BBC Breakfast really early in the morning, Steph confirmed to Express.co.uk: “Yeah, totally! It was horrendous.”“I did what a lot of people do, which is to just go, ‘Oh, I've just got one of those tummy things, I’ve just got dodgy bowels.’“When I was doing Breakfast Telly, I wouldn't eat until I'd finished broadcasting because, even if I was starving, I'd be so worried about having to run to the loo,” she confessed.“I would have to work out where the toilets were because I was obviously on location a lot.So I'd be in a field or a farm or whatever. “And then as soon as I finished I’d have a bacon sandwich, which is the worst thing you can have,” she reflected.“But then I might try to be healthy and have a smoothie, but then I’d just find that would be worse. I’d be in pain, diarrhoea - horrendous. “And so I just thought, fruit? I can’t do fruit.

Naga Munchetty admits fears alone at night when men are around ‘I carry keys in my hand’
Naga Munchetty, 47, was discussing the topic of women being sexually harassed while they walk home alone and feeling unsafe in the dark in case of an attack. The "furious" BBC Breakfast star said she was appalled that at the age of 47, she still has to "constantly" look around her in fear. She raised the issue in conjunction with a new storyline on the Channel 4 soap, Hollyoaks, about a man with a hatred of women, who spikes their drinks in nightclubs, and takes photos of them unconscious in order to humiliate them. The topic has also been prominent in the news following the high-profile deaths of Sarah Everard, who was murdered by a policeman, and Sabina Nessa."I'm very angry, just furious that women still have to think about these things," Naga indignantly exclaimed."I'm 47 years old and I'm still thinking about how I'm going to get home after a deserved night out - that's my issue."She admitted that as a "small-framed" woman at the height of 5ft 4in, she does "walk with keys in my hand" for her own safety."If I'm walking alone, I look round at least every 30 seconds and I'm constantly surveying what's going on in front, to the side, and behind me," she confessed during a BBC Sounds podcast earlier today. She discussed some of the experiences listeners had written in to share with her about their own night-time terrors. One woman admitted she was "jumped on and kissed" by a man she didn't recognise while travelling home alone after a night out.The experience left her so shaken up that it took her months to "pluck up the courage" to start going out after dark again. The very first time she did, a group of men on motorbikes stopped beside her and one remarked: "You look like you need a good seeing to", leaving her confidence

Dan Walker on working with ‘horrible people’ after quitting BBC Breakfast for Channel 5
“You know all these sorts of things you can do where you put your head on the pillow and say, ‘oh, that was a bit out of order wasn’t it?’” the broadcaster concluded.Dan moved to Channel 5 News earlier in the year, marking the end of a six year stint on the BBC Breakfast sofa. To mark his work for the channel’s 100th anniversary, the BBC shared a "montage of mistakes" including some of Dan’s most infamous blunders.Following the cheeky commemoration, titled 100 Seconds of BBC Going Wrong, Dan felt compelled to explain himself."During the BBC's 100 years of broadcasting, not everything has gone as planned on air," a caption on the video had explained, promising hilarious and unusual clips from times when it had all gone horribly wrong. The video sampled one newsreader sheepishly announcing: "If the autocue was working, I could now read you something, but as it isn't, I can’t.”The footage showed presenters haplessly falling into swimming pools and being violently pecked by ostriches mid-conversation.Dan's own contribution was merely witnessing an embarrassing mishap, rather than being responsible for one himself. However, he took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the selection of laugh-out-loud footage. He told his 777,300 followers: "It is so magnificently BBC to celebrate a century with a montage of mistakes! Delighted to have made the cut.”Then he quickly corrected himself, adding: "I should say… that’s not because the BBC makes a lot of mistakes but because the corporation is always happy to laugh at itself."On June 6, Dan presented his first News at 5 show and his debut saw 390,000 viewers tuning in.After Dan’s debut, the Channel 5 broadcaster shared his ratings success on Twitter. He wrote: “Lots of talk about figures
