Sunday Brunch host Simon Rimmer apologised after comedian Jon Richardson was accidentally fed a non-vegan ingredient. During the show, guests were booked a Masoor dhal with ghee-fried prawns by chef Asma Khan.

Vegan Jon, 37, avoided eating the prawns, and stood to the side while the other guests sampled them. But he tucked into the dhal, which had been mixed with other ingredients including the ghee.

Ghee is a type of butter that originated in India and is generally made from cow's milk. Simon assured him: "The dhal is vegan, Jon, obviously the prawns aren’t." However, during an ad break, it appeared Jon became aware the dhal was not, in fact, vegan.
