Stunned street cleaners find 10-foot python curled up in pile of fly tippers' rubbish
dailystar.co.uksnake slithering through a pile of rubbish dumped by suspected fly-tippers in the middle of a town.The snake - thought to be an albino Burmese python - was found by council workers in Grimsby on Monday morning.The unlucky creature is suspected to be a household pet that has died and since been dumped, a spokesman for the council said.Bosses at North East Lincolnshire Council have now appealed for its owner to come forward and collect their deceased scaly friend.John Munson, deputy street cleansing manager, said: “Our job is full of surprises, but this was a total shock for our team.“You don’t turn up for work on a Monday morning expecting to find a massive snake dumped behind a hedge.“None of us have plucked up the courage to fully unravel it, but it looks huge and weighs a fair bit.”Burmese pythons are among the largest snakes in the world, and workers have said the specimen they found felt "very heavy".Baffled local councillor Ron Shepherd appealed to the python owner's apparently missing sense of responsibility, and said: “We’re keen to speak to the snake’s owner so we can find out more about how it came to be fly-tipped in Grimsby.“Someone must know where it came from.
We all have a legal obligation, or duty of care, to make sure our waste is disposed of correctly."It's not the first of its species to be found dead or alive in Grimsby either, as a six foot long snake was found by council workers in the town back in 2020.The area was also the spot of a disgusting incident a year later when a pair of dead puppies were heartbreakingly thrown out onto the street as rubbish.The tiny dogs were found wrapped up and poorly hidden in an aftershave gift box, discarded at a popular fly-tipping spot in Ashby cum Fenby just.
