Forecasters have predicted up to 80mph winds and potentially more than three inches of rain in parts of the UK as Storm Bella crashes into Britain.
The Met Office has predicted flying debris, power cuts and even life-threatening waves along the south coast of England and Wales as part of an amber weather warning.
The alert, which starts at 8pm tonight and ends at 9am tomorrow, is one of five Met Office warnings issued today. Meteorologists believe more than three inches of rain could fall across high ground in west Scotland today amid downpours across the country.
Rain warnings have been put out for north-west and south-west England, the whole of Wales and the west of Northern Ireland, where strong gusts are anticipated.
