The Met Office is warning of power cuts and travel disruption as it issued new weather warnings for snow, sleet and ice lasting right up to the weekend.
Forecasters have put in place yellow weather warnings for large swathes of the country from today until Saturday. They are warning of 'some injuries from slips' as well as falls on icy surfaces.
By the weekend there could be power outages and a further 2cm of snow in some areas. Tomorrow there is set to be icy patches on some untreated roads and along pavements and cycle paths.
The weather warning, affecting Scotland and most of England, is for ice throughout the evening and into tomorrow morning. In the affected areas there is set to be rain, sleet and snow which will gradually die out,
