South Lanarkshire hits dubious landmark with 20k COVID cases recorded
dailyrecord.co.uklink.As of December 3, 653 people in Lanarkshire have died after testing positive for the virus.Lanarkshire has been the second-worst affected region in Scotland by coronavirus after Greater Glasgow and Clyde where 33,797 people have tested positive.Between March and June, during the first wave of the pandemic, only 2724 people in the region had tested positive for coronavirus.However, the total number of people infected with the virus is thought to be higher as testing capacity was lower and mass testing wasn’t available for the whole of the first wave.By June 5, 353 people in Lanarkshire had died after testing positive.From July 1 to August 16 just 100 cases of the virus were recorded in Lanarkshire before the start of the second wave.WIN.
