More than 100 soldiers are to be deployed in Aberdeenshire to help locals struggling in the aftermath of Storm Arwen today.
Council bosses made an official approach to the UK Government for help with thousands in the region still without power and some without water following the devastation at the weekend.
Now around 120 troops are to be set up in the region to check on vulnerable people who are still suffering the after-effects of the storm - with some 6,500 still without power.
The country was battered by winds of up to 90mph bringing down trees and cutting off overhead power lines- bringing chaos to much of the country.Treacherous conditions on the roads lead to police urging people to stay inside except for essential travel.Kind-hea
