Black Lives Matter protesters will likely end up in a museum. On Sunday, a large crowd gathered in the city and toppled the statue of Edward Colston, a notorious slave trader.

The Tory MP – who died in 1721 – was a member of the Royal African Company – which transported approximately 100,000 people from Africa to The Americas.The slaves were branded on the chest with the company’s initials.More than 20,000 are thought to have died during the crossing, and their bodies were thrown overboard.Crowds used ropes over the weekend and dropped the statute into Bristol Harbour, to great cheers among protesters.Mayor Marvin Rees afterwards said: "It's still underwater, at some point it will be fished out...
