SIR Rod Stewart has pleaded guilty to “simple battery” after punching a bouncer half his age. But it means under local laws he will have no criminal record and only have to pay £510 in court costs.

The rocker, 76, and his son Sean, 40, were due to face a trial in January and Sir Rod could have faced a year in jail. It came after a scuffle at a Florida Hotel on New Year’s Eve 2019, when bouncer Jesse Dixon, 34, denied the family entry to a party.

The pair denied earlier charges but legal wrangling saw them admit a lesser offence “to avoid burdening the court”. Neither man appeared at the Florida court as the case was concluded.
