Rod Stewart avoided being arrested for racing round Beverly Hills in a Porsche after being stopped by a baffled traffic cop.
The rock star was up against his former guitarist Jim Cregan who was driving another of Rod’s prized sports cars - a Lamborghini Countach.
After 'flooring it' and reaching speeds of 60mph between stop signs and traffic lights, the pair were pulled over by a Los Angeles cop on a motorbike.
But the officer didn't realise the Lamborghini had right hand steering - the wrong side for America - and mistakenly ordered Jim's passenger Robin Le Mesurier to produce his ID and driving licence.
