Sergio Romero is set to join newly-promoted Serie A side Venezia on a free transfer with talks in the 'final stages'. That's according to transfer specialist Fabrizo Romano who has revealed Romero, 34, is on the brink of joining the Italian side.
There was a time at Manchester United when Romero was widely regarded as one of the world's finest goalkeeping deputies, but he would soon dramatically fall out with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when he was dropped in the 2020 Europa League semi-final.
Solskjaer started David de Gea in that semi-final defeat against Sevilla and Romero was deeply hurt by the decision. He subsequently asked to leave United that summer, but his proposed loan move to Everton was blocked - the feud then worsened, though.
