The ranting, spitting and establishment-hating antics of the Sex Pistols started out as just one big act, a new TV series will reveal.
The 1970s group famous for hits like Anarchy in the UK and a less-than-patriotic rendition of God Save the Queen were cobbled together like a boy band.
Singer Johnny Rotten’s spitting was down to a sinus condition, the band was scared of audiences in northern England, and their seemingly drug-addled look was due to slimming pills.
The revelations will come in Pistol, a series based entirely on the searingly honest memoirs of guitarist and founder member Steve Jones, who wrote Lonely Boy: Tales From A Sex Pistol.
