A Scots schoolgirl has won an “age discrimination” payout after being sacked by a charity after just two shifts. The youngster, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was awarded almost £3,000 “for “injury to feelings” by an employment tribunal despite working just eight hours in a Kilmarnock cafe when she was 14.
A judge ruled it was an “unusual case” but the teenager, who was represented by her mum, should be compensated after her dismissal from her Saturday job left her “shocked, upset and distressed”.
