Scots driver pulled over for 'speeding' also lifted for 'non-essential journey'

Police are appealing for information after a car was spotted travelling at ‘significant speeds’ between Inverness and Wick during the coronavirus lockdown.

A white car was seen speeding on the A9 on Tuesday.Officers have now arrested a 20-year-old in connection with alleged road traffic offences.

The woman had also been reported in connection with alleged Covid-19 offences in line with the UK and Scottish Government imposed lockdown.

Police considered that the journey made was non-essential.A 25-year-old man inside the the vehicle was issued a fine in relation to the incident.Officers are continuing their investigations into the incident and are appealing for members of the public to assist.Inspector Donald Mackinnon, of Dingwall Road
