‘Major disruption’ is expected on Scotland’s railways today after the country was battered by Storm Arwen overnight. Trains across the country were heavily impacted last night as winds reached highs of almost 80mph in parts of the north and east of Scotland.The adverse conditions resulted in damage to overhead powers lines, fallen trees and flying debris on the tracks.Hundreds of Scots were left stranded as services were cancelled or heavily postponed due to gale force winds.ScotRail has warned passengers that disruption is expected to continue for most of Saturday, with a number of weather warnings still in place this morning.
