Schools could reopen to primary and exam year pupils first as part of a "staggered" return to the classroom in England. The Department for Education is looking at options for how schools open their doors - amid confusion about when it will happen.
Schools were shut to all but key workers' and vulnerable pupils in England's third national lockdown, and it had been hoped they would open from February 22.
But a review will only happen on February 15 and schools have been promised two weeks' notice - suggesting they can't reopen before March 1.
Boris Johnson has refused to rule out a return as late as after the Easter holidays. Fresh reports now suggest schools will not open all at once.
