Sarah Jayne Dunn says she is more financially secure “than I have ever been” nearly 12 months on from Hollyoaks axe. Last summer, the blonde bombshell, 40, confirmed she was leaving the Channel 4 soap due to the conflict of interest.

She explained: “There was a reason I was obviously looking for something else to do alongside Hollyoaks and I think the misconception that people have is that if you’re on telly you must be making a fortune.“I think people instantly go, ‘Oh you’re on telly so, one, you must be happy and two, you must be really rich’, and those things – just like any job – are not true.“The way that these shows work is that to be making more money you need to be very, very busy and if you’re not very busy then you’re not making much money – at all.

And I wasn’t very busy.“So you’ve got that lined up with having a family and paying bills, all the things that we all have, post lockdown as well, that was very difficult” she confessed.The starlet went on to explain that throughout her career she has often had to take on jobs that she didn’t necessarily want to do.Sarah continued: “As an actor you don’t really make very much money unless you make it big, big time.
