Ryanair suffered a £234million loss between April and June of this year as coronavirus continued to "wreak havoc" on the airline.
The company said the losses are higher than the £158million in the same period of 2020 - despite traffic being up 8.1 million from 0.5 million.
But Ryanair is predicting a summer recovery and said it expects to fly up to 100 million passengers this financial year after a strong surge in bookings.
The low-budget airline credited the coronavirus vaccine for a pick up in demand across EU nations. As a result, the company upped its forecast to fly between 90 million and 100 million people in the year ending March 2022.
