Royana Black, who appeared on Broadway inBrighton Beach Memoirsand starred as the title character on the short-lived sitcomRaising Miranda, has died.
She was 47. Black died July 14 in Los Angeles after a battle with acute myeloid leukemia, her family announced. When she was 10, Black joined the cast of Neil Simon'sBrighton Beach Memoirsin 1983 to portray Laurie, the younger cousin of Eugene (Matthew Broderick) and daughter of Blanche (Joyce Van Patten) who has heart problems.
In 1988, she starred as the daughter of a single dad (James Naughton) onRaising Miranda, but the CBS sitcom aired just nine episodes before it was canceled.
