SPFL they are pushing the unfurling of the league flag at Ibrox back to September to allow a capacity crowd to share in the historic moment.

The champions traditionally unfurl the flag on the opening day of the Scottish Premiership season but the Light Blues are looking to postpone it until September.

Steven Gerrard’s champions take on Livingston on the opening day of the league campaign in Govan on July 31 but the stadium will be less than half full with just 17,000 fans allowed in due to current Covid restrictions.

However, Rangers expect the stadium to be backed to the rafters by the time Motherwell are the visitors to Ibrox on September 18 and want to make that flag day.
