Well, they’re the number one Christmas number one, having topped a poll that set out to identify the UK’s favourite Christmas number one of all time.Launched by the Official Charts Company and Nine Eight Books to promote a thing called the ‘The Official Christmas Number One Singles Book’, the race to the top was as tight as any festive chart battle.
It could have been Al Martino, who had the first Christmas number one in 1952 with ‘Here In My Heart’, or Benny Hill, who got there with ‘Ernie (The Fastest Milkman In The West)’ in 1971.
