Meghan Markle will be given the VIP treatment during their upcoming trip to the Netherlands, it has been claimed. The couple will be taking the trip from their United States home for the Invictus Games, which starts on Saturday (April 16).

This year's event will take place at The Hague in the Netherlands, and will run for a week. And Prince Harry has been instrumental in the event, which he founded for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women in 2014.

Due to the rules in the country, their own security guards are not allowed to use weapons while out there. However, Dai Davies, a former head of royal protection at the Metropolitan Police told the Daily Mail: “The truth is I have no doubt that he will be protected, whether he takes his own team or whether the Dutch authorities give him some kind of VIP status.“The truth is, if there's a risk both countries - ours and the Netherlands - have sophisticated systems of determining risk.“This country has determined he is no longer at risk.

That may or may not be true, but people far better qualified than I am now can make that decision and they never make it lightly.“But they're very competent people, the Dutch, and I would have every faith that they would do their best.”Dutch police officials confirmed that the royal couple could not be allowed to have armed guards while out in the country. They are expected to be there for the opening ceremony on Saturday night.Dutch police spokeswoman Anna Sophia Posthumus said: “No, in the Netherlands only government officials - police, military personnel etc - are allowed to carry weapons.”The couple will also be followed around Holland by a camera crew from Netflix, new site nau.ch has claimed. It hasn't been confirmed exactly why this.
