He then underwent officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He was commissioned as a cornet (second lieutenant) into the Blues and Royals, serving temporarily with his brother Prince William, and he completed his training as a troop leader. In 2007–08, he served for over ten weeks in Helmand, Afghanistan, but was pulled out after an Australian magazine revealed his presence there. He returned to Afghanistan for a 20-week deployment in 2012–13 with the Army Air Corps. He left the army in June 2015.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 'to return to UK with Archie and Lilibet for Christmas'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be considering a return to the UK with baby Lilibet and son Archie this Christmas, a royal expert has revealed.

Royal author Katie Nicholl believes a family trip back to the UK is “being looked at” by the pair, and she believes there could be a “softening” to help repair bonds with the UK-based Royals.

Speaking to Closer, Katie said: “When Harry and Meghan left, they made it clear they didn’t want to give up their home in Britain.They still have Frogmore Cottage and their plan was to come back to the UK. “Christmas is being looked at as an opportunity.There may be a softening, which could pave the way for a healing of the family rift.
