Premiership chief sends fans warning as grounds prepare to open again

Leeann Dempster has revealed she believes fans will return to football grounds this year as the country emerges from coronavirus lockdown - but away supporters will have to stay home.

The SFA and SPFL joint response group issued a statement on Wednesday, confirming they had received the green light from the Scottish Government over supporters attending live games from a provisional date of July 23.

Hibs and Edinburgh rivals Hearts have been in discussions with the Scottish Rugby Union over using Murrayfield Stadium in the capital as a means of accommodating larger crowds while social distancing.

And Premiership champions Celtic are reportedly looking to admit around 30,000 fans to games if the official recommended measurement is reduced.
