The Premier League expect Manchester City's fixture with Newcastle to go ahead as planned, despite another top flight fixture being postponed on Saturday.
An increase in Covid cases in Premier League clubs has seen six fixtures now called off this weekend, with Aston Villa's home clash with Burnley called off on Saturday just two hours before the planned kick-off.
That leaves City's trip to St James' Park as just one of four games this weekend still scheduled to take place, and the Premier League offered an update on those fixtures when confirming the decision to postpone the Aston Villa fixture.
