The Premier League could have 23 teams in it next season with 44 games being played throughout the term. Furthermore, the League Cup could be scrapped for the year to make room for all the next fixtures.

The current predicament has never been seen before in the Premier League era, with no football for nearly two months. It has left the likes of Liverpool in limbo, as they sit on the cusp of a first title in 30 years.
