Detectives have re-opened a cold-case centred on a body found in a burnt-out car - saying they've found a "significant new lead".

No one has ever been brought to justice over the death of George Tweedie, 18 years ago. The Keresley murder victim was identified months after his body was discovered in a burnt-out car in Buxton, Derbyshire on May 7, 2002.

A post-mortem examination established he had died after being struck to the head, most likely with a blunt instrument. His body was set alight sometime after he died, police believe.

While no one was ever convicted of his murder, three people were jailed for perverting the cause of justice in 2003. Now, 18 years on, police are re-opening the case in hopes fresh information can help crack the
