He is currently the co-presenter of This Morning (2002–present) and Dancing on Ice (2006–2014, 2018–present) alongside Holly Willoughby. His other work for ITV includes All Star Mr & Mrs (2008–2016), The Cube (2009–2015), and 5 Gold Rings (2017–present). Schofield gained national attention working for the BBC, first as a continuity presenter for Children's BBC on weekdays from 1985 to 1987, then as a presenter on the children's Saturday morning magazine show Going Live! between September 1987 and April 1993.

Phillip Schofield was forced to take over the Spin To Win competition segment on Thursday's This Morning after his co-host Holly Willoughby suffered an unfortunate coughing fit.The presenter, 40, had to ask her co-star to read her lines as she tried to stifle a "tickle in her throat" after celebrating England's win against Denmark in the semi-final of the Euro 2020 football tournament on Wednesday night.

As the duo spoke to a caller during the competition segment, Holly started coughing as she turned away from the camera and took a sip of water.To which Phillip asked: "Are you alright?" with Holly explaining: "I've got a tickle in my throat!
