It argued that the proposal inappropriately restricts the company’s “ability to manage its own ordinary business operations, people and teams, and business strategies.”Shareholders ultimately defeated the NCPPR proposal, with 8.84 billion votes against it and only 210.45 million votes in favor of it.While Apple discloses diversity data about its employees, the company says it has not set targets or quotas.

For the quarter, the first full quarter during which the new iPhone 16 models were available, Apple drew $69.1 billion in iPhone sales. That’s down slightly from $69.7 billion in the period ended December 2023.

The company reported revenue of $94.93 billion, up 6.1%, and net income of $14.74 billion, down 36%, for the three months ended Sept. 28.

Apple rolled out the iPhone 16 at its annual September product event, showcasing the artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities of the new devices.

The company’s Services division, which includes Apple TV+, Apple Music, the App Store and other services, posted a new quarterly revenue record of $24.21 billion, an increase of 14.1%.

According to Cook, in an interview aired on this week’s “CBS Sunday Morning,” he uses the forthcoming Apple Vision Pro augmented-reality headset “on a regular basis” — and said he watched “the entire third season of ‘Ted Lasso’ on the Vision Pro,” referring to the Emmy-winning Apple TV+ series starring Jason Sudekis.

Apple announced the years-in-development headset Monday at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) at its headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. “I believe that augmented reality is a profound technology,” said CEO Tim Cook, saying that Apple’s introduction of Vision Pro will introduce people to new forms of “spatial computing” and comparing the product introduction to the way iPhone introduced smartphones to millions of people.

But the tech giant topped Wall Street forecasts, with its services business hitting a new record for revenue and iPhone sales up 1.5%. The company reported revenue of $94.8 billion, down 3%, and net income of $24.2 billion (or $1.52 per share) for the quarter ended April 1, which is Apple’s Q2 of fiscal 2023. Financial analysts expected revenue of $92.96 billion and earnings of $1.43 per share for the quarter, per Refinitiv data. Apple’s Services revenue rose 5.5%, to $20.9 billion, just a hair above $20.8 billion for the year-end 2022 quarter. The segment includes the App Store, Apple Pay, and subscription services such as Apple TV+, Apple Music and iCloud.

Reports have emerged that Apple CEO Tim Cook has stepped in to ensure that the company did not produce a TV show which is inspired by gossip outlet Gawker. Claims by The New York Times say that Cook, who is one of the the most powerful openly gay men in the world, was the least bit excited to hear that his company had picked up the TV show Scraper, which is based on Gawker.
