Fulham denied 37-year-old player transfer because they couldn't get £10m for him
Fulham refused to sell Mark Schwarzer back in 2010 despite his dream of playing for Arsenal - slapping on a price-tag that he thinks "nobody in their right mind" would've paid.Schwarzer moved to west London in 2008 following an 11-year association with Middlesbrough, making 104 appearances across just two seasons - and helping them into the Europa League final in 2010.With Fulham suffering an agonising extra-time defeat against Atletico Madrid, Roy Hodgson left the club to join Liverpool, with Arsenal coming in for Schwarzer as Mark Hughes joined the club. The 49-year-old has now opened up about this burning desire to join Arsene Wenger at the Emirates, detailing how Fulham blocked the move with a huge asking price.Schwarzer, speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes at its launch of the 5-A-Side Bet on Leicester v West Ham, said: "My first conversation with Mark was very much, 'Hi, nice to meet you, I want to leave.' "He must have known there was an offer on the table and that I desperately wanted to go. He just told me there was no offer, he knew nothing about it, and that the club wouldn't be letting anyone leave."I ended up meeting with Mohamed Al-Fayed in his office at Craven Cottage, and he told me that if Arsenal met the value the club believed I was worth, that I could go, and if they didn't pay it, I was stuck.

Can Hodgson steer Watford of relegation? Let us know in the comments section At 71-years-old, Bobby Robson took to the St James' Park dugout for one last time in a clash with Aston Villa.Despite being two games into the 2004/05 campaign, Robson was sacked, and he never returned to management. The Englishman is best remembered for his spells with England, and the failure of Italia 90, as well as his short spell at Barcelona.Robson died at the age of 76 in 2009.Want to be on the ball with all of the latest football news?Well then sign up for the brilliant Daily Star football email newsletter! From the latest transfer news to the agenda-setting stories, get it all in your email inbox - don't miss a thing. It only
