Eddie Howe 's last hope of landing an English Premier League job this summer is all but gone with Lucien Favre closing in on Crystal Palace.
The 64-year-old Swiss emerged as a shock contender in recent days and is now on the verge of being confirmed as Roy Hodgson's successor at Selhurst Park.
Favre was also linked with the Parkhead vacancy but it was Howe who appeared destined for Celtic before talks came to an end after months of communication on both sides.
Howe earned acclaim for guiding Bournemouth through the leagues but the 43-year-old is still on the search for his next club 12 months after the Cherries were relegated under his watch.Palace appeared a viable option but he has never been among the favourites to succeed Hodgson.
