Team Reptile announced that its indie action-adventure platformer Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is coming to PlayStation and Xbox consoles in September.Following the PC and Switch launch – scheduled for August 18 – Bomb Rush Cyberfunk will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on September 1. Sega has revealed Sonic Superstars, an upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog title that will blend the long-running series’ retro and modern-day identity.Set to launch this autumn, Sonic Superstars is a 2D platformer that will see players take on the villainous Dr. Eggman, who is attempting to turn the North Star Island’s animals into Badniks.“Join Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose on an adventure that takes ‘classic’ to another level,” reads a description for the trailer.

NetherRealm CCO Ed Boon has given an explanation as to why the next installment in the Mortal Kombat series is called Mortal Kombat 1.As reported by PCGamesN, Boon explained in a Kommunity Chat following the game’s reveal that “Mortal Kombat 1 is the beginning of a universe” and “is not a continuation of the Mortal Kombat 11 story so the characters have completely different roles in this new timeline and we really wanted to punctuate that with our title.”“So this is Mortal Kombat 1, it is a brand new beginning, you’re going to be seeing these characters reintroduced in their new roles, with new relationships with each other, and that’s the main catalyst for calling it Mortal Kombat 1,” Boon said.Mortal Kombat 1‘s cover art features the character Liu Kang — as opposed to Scorpion and Sub-Zero who have “always been the poster child of Mortal Kombat” — and Boon added that this represents a new storyline, saying that the game takes place in a “reborn” universe created by the Fire God.Mortal Kombat 1 is set to launch on September 19, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The upcoming game was expected to be called Mortal Kombat 12 and continue on from Mortal Kombat 11.Earlier this year, it was reported that the CEO of Warner Bros Discovery, David Zaslev, may have revealed the release window for the game.

Strange Scaffold has announced a release date for Sunshine Shuffle, a crime drama that follows a poker game between an “adorable” group of animal bank robbers.Following the game’s announcement last year, Strange Scaffold has confirmed that Sunshine Shuffle will launch for Nintendo Switch and PC on May 24.Though the visuals and cutesy animal stars will look familiar to fans of Animal Crossing, the subject matter of Sunshine Shuffle will be slightly darker than Nintendo‘s life sim.Described as a “narrative poker adventure” on its Steam page, Sunshine Shuffle is set on board a ship called the S.S. Sunshine, where a group of “adorable animal friends” have reconvened to play Texas Hold ‘Em and reveal how they robbed the First Eastern Bank over a decade ago.“Play Texas Hold ‘Em with the remaining members of the ‘Morning Shift’, a group of working-class creatures turned would-be Robin Hoods who crossed the Fishie Mob, and mostly lived to tell the tale,” reads Sunshine Shuffle‘s Steam page.

Mojang and Wizards Of The Coast have announced the launch of Dungeons & Dragons downloadable content (DLC) for Minecraft, which will introduce a “story-driven” campaign and five classes to choose from.The Dungeons & Dragons DLC is set to launch on the Minecraft Marketplace in spring 2023, and will include a number of enemies, locations and features from Wizards Of The Coast’s 1974 game.In the DLC, players will choose from five Dungeons & Dragons classes – including Barbarian and Wizard – and explore five Forgotten Realms from the D&D universe.

Cyanide Studio has released a statement addressing various issues players have had with the recently released Blood Bowl 3.Blood Bowl 3 was released last week and quickly racked up a “ mostly negative” review rating on Steam. Blood Bowl 3 was finally released yesterday (February 23) but already has a “mostly negative” rating on Steam.Developed by Cyanide Studio, the sequel to 2015’s Blood Bowl 2 sees “the iconic death sport return with the new video game of fantasy football faithfully using the latest board game rules.” Players are tasked with creating their team “then crush, mulch and cheat your way to the top… leaving your opponents in the graveyard.”An Early Access launch for Blood Bowl 3 was delayed in 2021 with the turn-based combat game’s full release then pushed back from February 2022 to 2023.“The pandemic has impacted production times, and these new dates will allow our development teams to give their fans polished games without compromising on our quality targets,” said Nacon’s head of publishing Benoît Clerc at the time.But over a year later than planned, it seems Blood Bowl 3 may not be worth the wait. Just 26 per cent of the 460 reviews on Steam are positive with fans unhappy about skills not being implemented and the fact the only difference between the released game and the Early Access version is more teams.“All of the development effort has gone into the microtransactions store for cosmetics,” wrote one review.

Re-Logic has announced that Terraria quality assurance developer Jason “Leinfors” Parker has passed away, aged 36.The studio confirmed the news in a statement to the Terraria community. Mojang has revealed a first look at the sniffer, an “ancient mob” that’s being added to Minecraft in version 1.20.The Minecraft developer shared images of the sniffer in a blog post published yesterday (February 13), where it also outlined how players can get their hands on the mob.Sniffers will arrive in Minecraft as part of the game’s 1.20 update, which is planned to launch at some point in 2023. Players will first encounter them in egg form in suspicious sand, a new block type that will be used in the game’s upcoming archaeology feature.After helping it hatch, snifflets eventually grow into a sniffler, which is “not only huge, but helpful” for sniffing out unique seeds that can be planted for new decorative plants.Mojang has also shared a number of images of the sniffer exploring Minecraft‘s various biomes, which you can check out below.Though an exact release date for sniffers is yet to be confirmed, Mojang says they will be tested in Minecraft‘s creative mode snapshots before they arrive in the full game.Sniffers were the winner of 2022’s mob vote, in which players select a new creature to be added to Minecraft.
