Deadline has confirmed that a new Starship Troopers is happening at Sony, with District 9 filmmaker Neill Blomkamp writing and directing.

PlayStation is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the PS1, and it is releasing a new Gran Turismo game that players can experience for free.As reported by Eurogamer, My First Gran Turismo is a free-to-play racing game launching tomorrow (December 6). The trailer states the game is “a gift to those just now discovering GT.” Players will be able to learn about cars through extensive in-game documentation, and build up a collection of vehicles they can drive.It appears to have 18 vehicles available to drive and collect, as well as multiple race modes to try out.

Ford is on board as an executive producer along with Temple Hill’s John Fischer. The film will shoot in Australia this year.

The “Gran Turismo” video games are a series of racing games that date back to 1997, with the most recent entry, “Gran Turismo 7,” launching in March 2022. In total, the “Gran Turismo” franchise has sold more than 80 million copies worldwide. The movie’s logline is as follows: “Based on a true story, the film is the ultimate wish fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race car driver.”

Off The Grid – a cyberpunk battle royale being developed by Gunzilla Games – has had its first teaser trailer released, as film director Neill Blomkamp is involved with the game’s development.An official teaser trailer for Off The Grid was released by Gunzilla Games yesterday (May 4), which can be watched below.A “cyberpunk-styled battle royale third person shooter,” the game’s world, narrative and character’s were built by Blomkamp, with help from Gunzilla Games staff. Blomkamp is best known as the director of films like District 9, Elysium and Chappie – which blend sci-fi with more grounded elements.According to Off The Grid’s own website, the game will see 150 players fight each other in a battle royale-style game, which features both player vs player (PvP) fights and player vs environment (PvE) storyline missions.Players will also “control how the story unfolds, with each decision made directly impacting everyone’s gameplay,” as they can also craft, customise and trade their in-game items with one another.Built in Unreal Engine 5, Gunzilla Games tweeted today (May 5) that players can also “choose a faction [and] fight for dominance in an all-out corporate war.”Blomkamp told GameSpot in a recent interview: “We’re trying to decide the best way of doing [factions].

District 9.Released in 2009, District 9 revolved around a refugee camp in Johannesburg, South Africa, where aliens resided in slum-like conditions. It marked Blomkamp’s feature film debut and was a huge success, earning an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.There’s been rumours of a sequel over the years since, but the director only recently confirmed District 10’s existence in February earlier this year.
