PlayStation is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the PS1, and it is releasing a new Gran Turismo game that players can experience for free.As reported by Eurogamer, My First Gran Turismo is a free-to-play racing game launching tomorrow (December 6). The trailer states the game is “a gift to those just now discovering GT.” Players will be able to learn about cars through extensive in-game documentation, and build up a collection of vehicles they can drive.It appears to have 18 vehicles available to drive and collect, as well as multiple race modes to try out.

Working in an oft-traversed realm, Gran Turismo director Neill Blomkamp and writers Jason Hall and Zach Baylin have delivered a racing car drama that’s rather different from the others. With plenty of potent auto action, some well-defined characters and welcome fresh components, this is an engaging look at people who overcome their own doubts and perceived shortcomings to help pull off something genuinely unusual. It’s a lively, spunky piece of work with no pretenses and all the more welcome for that. Originally dated for August 11, Sony pivoted amid the actors strike, and is sneak previewing the next two weekends, with the official wide opening on August 25.

Based on the popular series of PlayStation racing video games and the real-life story of Jann Mardenborough, a teenage gamer who aspires to be an actual race car driver, the action-packed film explores the terrifying journey one young make makes to go from gamer to racer. In real life, Mardenborough participated in the Gran Turismo Academy competition, beating 90,000 other participants to become the tournament's third and youngest champion. He was rewarded with the opportunity to represent Nissan in the Dubai 24-Hour race, and he went on to win numerous Nissan events and make a living as a professional race car driver. Archie Madekwe takes on the role of Mardenborough, following the racer's footsteps through GT Academy and onto the racetrack. Djimon Hounsou plays the role of Jann's father, Steve Mardenborough, alongside Geri Halliwell and Daniel Puig, who portray Jann's mother Lesley and his brother, respectively.Orlando Bloom turns the marketing charm up to 11 as Danny Moore, a motorsport marketing executive based on GT Academy founder Darren Cox.

Columbia Pictures has unveiled a sneak look at upcoming film Gran Turismo at the Sony Group Corporation’s 2023 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) press conference in Las Vegas, NV. Based on the Playstation Studios video game, the film will be in movie theaters August 11, 2023.
