Elsa Keslassy International CorrespondentTrustNordisk, the sales banner behind Thomas Vinterberg’s Oscar-winning “Another Round,” has boarded “Superposition” (working title), a high-concept psychological thriller that will be headlined by Mikkel Boe Følsgaard (“A Royal Affair,” “The Rain”) and Marie Bach Hansen (“White Sands”).Set to shoot in the fall, the film will mark the feature debut of Karoline Lyngbye, and is one of the 13 genre projects that will be presented at this year’s Frontières Platform during the Cannes Marché du Film.“‘Superposition’ is an intriguing feature with a mystifying story and a thrilling element at its core,” said TrustNordisk managing director Susan Wendt.

Karoline Lyngbye has come out swinging with her debut feature film, Superposition. The film, which received its UK premiere at FrightFest Halloween, is an intimate study of a relationship in crisis. In the wake of an affair, writer Stein (Marie Bach Hansen), her husband Teit (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard), and their young son Nemo (Mihlo Olsen), relocate to the woods. Their aim is for a reconciliation of their marriage away from prying eyes. The reality however, is trickier. Although Teit acts remorseful for his actions, he continually plays the victim, and whilst Stein puts on a brave face, she is clearly not quite ready to forgive and forget. Their marital woes soon take a backseat after Nemo disappears briefly in the woods. Upon his return, he is adamant that Stein and Teit are not his parents, and the plot thickens.Superposition is a film that has a very clever idea and reveal, but it is one that will feel familiar to well-versed genre fans.

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent Momento Film, the leading Swedish banner founded by David Herdies (“Winter Buoy”) and Michael Krotkiewski (“Bellum — The Daemon Of War”), is boasting a slate of projects including the documentaries “Leaving Jesus” and “The Underdog,” as well as Simón Mesa Soto’s “A Poet.” While at Cannes, the banner also started teasing one of its biggest project so far, “The Swedish Torpedo,” Frida Kempff (“Winter Buoy”)’s period film inspired by the life of Sally Bauer, the first Scandinavian to swim across the English Channel in 1939. “The Swedish Torpedo” will start shooting in August with a topnotch cast led by Josefin Neldén (“Border,” “438 Days”), Mikkel Boe Følsgaard (“Royal Affair,” “Borgen”), as well as Lisa Carlehed (“The Emigrants”).

Produced by David Herdies and Erik Andersson at Momento Film, the film will start shooting in August in Sweden, Estonia, Belgium and England. “Five years ago I didn’t know who Sally Bauer was and even less what she had achieved. Five days ahead of the outbreak of WWII she swam across the English Channel,” said Kempff I feel this is a story that needs to be told, about a woman who accomplished the impossible and shattered both social norms and world records.”

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent Viaplay Content Distribution has closed the first raft of deals for its ambitious action drama film “Stockholm Bloodbath” directed by Mikael Håfström. Ahead of Viaplay’s official streaming premiere in 2024, “Stockholm Bloodbath” will be distributed in the Nordics by Scanbox Entertainment. It will roll out in Denmark on Jan. 18th and in Sweden and Norway on Jan. 19. Splendid Film, meanwhile, has acquired all rights for Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland. “Stockholm Bloodbath” is part of Viaplay Content Distribution’s roster which will be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival to international buyers. The company will present new and exclusive material from the film.

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent SF Studios, the leading Scandinavian banner behind “Snabba Cash” and “A Man Called Otto,” has boarded “Kingmaker,” the sequel of the 2004 Danish hit movie “Kongekabale.” The political thriller is an adaptation of Niels Krause-Kjær’s second novel “Mørkeland” about the adventures of an investigative journalist, Ulrik Torp. The initial movie was a local blockbuster, selling over 550,000 tickets in Danish theaters. The film, directed by Mikkel Serup, brings back Anders W. Berthelsen in the lead role as Ulrik Torp, starring alongside Danish star Nicolas Bro (“Riders of Justice”) and Charlotte Munck (“Open Spaces”) also returning in their roles. Penned by Marie Østerbye, “Kingmaker” is produced by Sara Namer and Morten Kjems Hytten Juhl at Meta Film, and executive produced by Meta Film’s Louise Foldager. SF Studios distributes the film in the Nordics, while REinvent handles international sales.

Elsa Keslassy International CorrespondentNetflix has set the launch date for “Borgen – Power & Glory,” the new version of the hit Danish political drama, for April 14 across the Nordics and on June 2 in the rest of the world.Directed by Per Fly, “Borgen – Power & Glory” brings back Birgitte Nyborg (Sidse Babett Knudsen) who has just been appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs when a drilling company suddenly discovers oil in Greenland. The event sparks an international struggle for power in the Arctic.“The series deals with some of the biggest political issues of our time, as well the relevance of the Danish Realm in the modern world, the superpowers’ battle for control of the Arctic – and not least, the climate crisis,” said Netflix, which described “Power & Glory” as “a stand-alone continuation of the previous seasons of ‘Borgen.'” The streamer added that “the main story focuses on the struggle for power and what power does to people – both professionally and on a personal level.”Other prominent characters in “Power & Glory” will include Katrine Fønsmark (Birgitte Hjort Sørensen) who was previously head of press.

Borgen – Power & Glory, a fresh continuation of hit Danish political drama Borgen, has been set for release on Netflix April 14 in the Nordic markets and June 2 in the rest of the world. Netflix has also dropped first-look photos (see above and below).
