Former Eurovision champions Loreen and Kalush Orchestra have voiced their excitement ahead of the contest taking place in Liverpool this week.The city has been transformed for the international music competition, which the UK is hosting on behalf of Ukraine amid the Russian invasion. Outside the series of arena live shows, two weeks of mostly free events are taking place featuring concerts, art exhibitions, flash mobs and more. Swedish singer Loreen told the PA news agency she “loved” the UK and hailed it as a “creative hub”.

Yossman Catherine, the Princess of Wales, made a surprise appearance during the opening of the Eurovision Song Contest’s grand final on Saturday evening alongside Andrew Lloyd-Webber, rapper Ms Banks and last year’s Eurovision winners Kalush Orchestra, who hail from Ukraine. The princess, who is married to Britain’s Prince William, appeared in a pre-recorded clip playing an instrumental version of Kalush Orchestra’s winning song “Stefania” on the piano, which she recorded in the Crimson Drawing Room of Windsor Castle earlier this month. The clip was part of a montage of different artists – including Lloyd-Webber and Ms Banks – who performed a version of the song alongside Kalush Orchestra themselves. Also featuring in the line-up were last year’s runner-up Sam Ryder, Ballet Black, Bolt Strings, and Joss Stone.

This year the Eurovision Song Contest is taking place right here in the UK. Liverpool is hosting the competition on behalf of last year’s winners Ukraine, who are unable to host the contest due to the war.

The remaining tickets for the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool will go on sale next week, the BBC has announced. A final batch of tickets for each of the nine live shows held in May will be up for grabs on Monday, April 24, at midday.

Eurovision 2022 winners Kalush Orchestra have shared a new song – ‘Ushme Uturbe’.The track sees the Ukrainian band team up with with Canadian rapper bbno$, who they met in Austin, Texas, where they made a music video for the song. They also performed at the South By Southwest (SXSW) music festival.“In Austin, we met Alex (bbno$) for the first time in real life, but it was so easy and fun to work together on the set that it seemed like we were old friends.

Eurovision Song Contest 2023 entry is set to be revealed tomorrow (March 9).The BBC have said an announcement will be made on Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 breakfast show at 8.30am GMT.Among the favourites to represent the UK include Lymington singer-songwriter Birdy with odds of of 6/4, Rina Sawayama, Jessie Ware and Ellie Goulding.Following the same selection process as last year, the BBC has been working with a management company to pick the act.The UK is one of the last competing countries to reveal its song for 2023.

Kalush Orchestra have marked Ukrainian Independence Day by sharing a message of hope and making a fresh appeal for donations.The rap group raised $900,000 (£739k) by auctioning off their Eurovision trophy after winning the contest in May. Kalush Orchestra have announced a North American headline tour for later in the year.There’s a total of 13 dates on the itinerary, with the run set to kick off at Seattle’s Club SUR on Thursday, October 20. The Ukrainian act chase it up with back-to-back shows in San Francisco, Denver and LA before rolling on to Dallas, Houston, Philadelphia and New York.The US dates will wrap up over the first week of November, with shows locked in for Washington DC, Miami and Chicago before the tour ends in Canada with Montreal and Toronto gigs.Tickets for all of the dates – a full list of which can be found below – are on sale now via Bomond.

Boris Johnson has said Ukraine should be given the chance to host Eurovision 2023 after it was confirmed that talks were underway to potentially bring next year’s contest to the UK.Ukrainian group Kalush Orchestra won this year’s song competition with a huge 631 points, and it was therefore set to be staged in the country in 2023.However, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) announced “with deep regret” yesterday (June 17) that it will not be possible to do so amid the threat of the ongoing Russian invasion.In a statement, the EBU also revealed that it “will now begin discussions with the BBC, as this year’s runner-up, to potentially host the 2023 Eurovision song contest in the United Kingdom”.“It is our full intention that Ukraine’s win will be reflected in next year’s shows,” the update continued. “This will be a priority for us in our discussions with the eventual hosts.”The competition was last held in the UK in 1998 after the UK won with Katrina And The Waves’ ‘Love Shine A Light’ the previous year.
