Eurovision 2023 will take place in Liverpool, Graham Norton has announced. The 59 year old star, who does the BBC's commentary on the Song Contest, shared the news during Friday night's episode of The One Show and revealed that the event will take place on May 13 2023.

Both Glasgow and Liverpool were announced as the final two cities in the running.The UK is hosting Eurovision on behalf of 2022 winners Ukraine, whose act Kalush Orchestra triumphed last May.

The UK has previously hosted Eurovision on eight separate occasions, including in 1974 when ABBA triumphed. Typically the infamous singing competition has been hosted in London, but the likes of Birmingham, Brighton, and Harrogate have held the event too.

While the competition took place in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1972, this would have been Glasgow's first time. The finale of the well-loved event will take place on May 13, but it's since been revealed that the two semi-finals will take place on Tuesday May 9 and Thursday May 11 - so clear your calendars.
