BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty slammed for 'outrageous slur' in Eurovision chat
BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty has been accused of using a "slur" against Eurovision. On Friday's programme (May 13), she starred alongside co-host Charlie Stayt and both chatted to Eurovision correspondent David Sillito.During the segment, Naga and Charlie both revealed that they don't think UK entrant Sam Ryder will win, but think he will do well.Talking to David via video link, Naga put a rather controversial question to him on air.Naha asked: "That was our speculation about how the voting would go, and I would not say it's a fair process always, would you?"David replied: "I would say it is evidently fair, that's an outrageous slur on poor Eurovision there, it is also entirely unpredictable."He continued: "You do not know what is going to go on and what drama we have had at the semi-finals."Poor Ireland, poor, poor Ireland is out. There was such hope they would get through to the final."You have got to remember Ireland is Eurovision royalty having won, I think, seven times."Serbia and Finland were through and they are truly an example of how bizarre Eurovision can be."The reporter confessed he felt positive about the UK's chances this year, especially in comparison to previous years.David added: "What I mean by UK's year is a top 20 finish at least, that's as far as I am going."However, yesterday I got to meet Sam Ryder, we had some time together, and the only thing you can say is wherever you are in Turin at the moment you keep on hearing his song Spaceman and there is a bit of a buzz about it."Naga was also left fuming during the show as Conservative politician Jacob Rees-Mogg branded the Downing Street party fines a "non-story".

BBC Breakfast Naga Munchetty fumes as Jacob Rees-Mogg brands Boris fines 'non-story'
BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty was left fuming during Friday's show (May 13) as Conservative politician Jacob Rees-Mogg branded the Downing Street party fines a "non-story".The cabinet minister appeared on the latest episode of the morning programme where he was asked about the latest wave of more than 50 fines issued because of rule-breaking in Downing Street amid the coronavirus pandemic."I'm afraid I think this is a non-story," the politician said when asked about the fines, after which he was interrupted by Naga. The pair then engaged in a tense exchange.Naga replied: "I'm sorry, why do you think this is a non-story? "Have you not heard people genuinely upset and devastated that people in Downing Street thought it was OK to break the rules they set when other people didn't break the rules and missed out on meeting dying family members?"She later added: "Can I just understand your interpretation of where we are with the rules and why you think this is a non-story?"So, the fact that more than 100 fines have been issued is a non-story because the rules that were set in the first place were too rigorous? And they were too strict?"Jacob replied that the fines were "an important story in February" and "there are other things going on which are more important".Quick to support Naga were BBC Breakfast viewers. They were left equally angered by Jacob's claims and described his comments as "sickening" and "tone deaf".One viewer wrote: "It's too late to say the rules may have been wrong and it's sickening to hear you say it's a non-story."Another commented: "Non story??? Because the rules were too strict???Said by one of those who made said rules."A third joked: "If I ever break the law I will take a leaf out of Rees-Mogg's

I certainly don't," he added. The politician went on: "Because all that nonsense is shown for the trivial nature of it and that we are now looking at serious, difficult decisions having been -," before cutting himself off.He continued: "I'd say the same with Partygate, that all of
