Furious chef caused £13K damage in two pubs after being demoted for 'difficult' manner
chef has been jailed after causing thousands of pounds worth of damage in two pubs over wage disputes.Graeme McLaughlin, 35, was responsible for a series of damaging attacks on the two properties, with the ceiling caved in and smiley faces drawn across the pub walls in a vandalism tirade that caused £13,000 worth of damage.The angry chef pleaded guilty to five counts of criminal damage at The Brondanw Arms in Llanfrothen and The Saracen's Head Hotel last year.Caernarfon Crown Court heard how McLaughlin was said to be behaving in a "difficult" manner with his pub boss during a dispute and later found himself demoted to sous chef.McLaughlin had warned his workmates that he would "smash up" one of the pubs where he worked but ended up damaging two of the properties as well as several vehicles.The court heard the furious former-sous chef headed to Wilko to purchase black spray paint, superglue and a bar to prise open the doors of the property.A number of smiley faces were graffitied onto the walls around the premises including near the toilets and on staircases.The graffiti featured one smiley face over the squirrel and dove-clad wallpaper with another smiley face near a "Please respect social distancing on stairs" sign.For the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star, sign up for our newsletter by clicking here.Along with the smiley face graffiti, McLaughlin is said to be responsible for a smashed Mercedes rear window and the crumbling of the ceiling of one pub in his vandalism spree.Reports indicate that a tap was turned on with a plug left inside, causing the water to overflow and the ceiling to collapse.The court heard McLaughlin admit he was ashamed at his behaviour before he was
