England U18 star can't be promoted to U21 squad yet as he doesn't have British passport
Liverpool transfer target Fabio Carvalho a call-up to the England U21 squad.Carvalho has been capped at both U16 and U18 level and England are now keen to reward his stunning form for Fulham with a promotion to Lee Carsley's U21 squad. However, Carvalho doesn't have a British passport - which means he cannot feature in competitive games.According to Sky Sports, Carvalho has yet to pass his citizenship test, which would seemingly rule him out of an U21 call-up for the next round of international fixtures. And it could even scupper England's hopes of calling up the Whites hotshot in the future. The 19-year-old has been in sizzling form for Fulham, who have romped their way to the top of the Championship.Carvalho has bagged eight goals and six assists in 28 games for the Londoners - form which has attracted both domestic and international suitors. The attacker, who was born in Lisbon, is also eligible to feature for Portugal - with previous reports indicating that the Portuguese Football Federation are monitoring Carvalho's progress. And there's every chance that Portugal could try to swoop in if England are unable to accelerate Carvalho into a more senior age-group.Where do you think Carvalho will be playing next season? Liverpool transfer talks 'continuing' as Reds remain keen on Fabio Carvalho
Liverpool still have high hopes that they can land Fulham's Fabio Carvalho after seeing a deadline day move for the youngster collapse at the last minute. An £8million fee had been agreed between the two clubs, but the paperwork necessary to finalise the move wasn't completed before the 11pm deadline on Monday - despite Neco Williams' loan move to Craven Cottage successfully going through.Liverpool are understood to still be in talks with Carvalho over a summer move, and are hoping to resolve the matter without the need for a tribunal to determine a fee.But because the midfielder's contract is up in the summer, they now face the prospect of other clubs swooping in to pinch the player, with reported interest from Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and even Chelsea.FA rules dictate that Fulham are entitled to receive compensation if he leaves the club on a free transfer, having developed the 19-year-old for seven years. If he leaves for an overseas club that figure would be £500,000, but will likely be a lot higher if he moves to a Premier League team.As part of the initial agreement struck with Liverpool, Carvalho was to be loaned back to Fulham for the remainder of the season, so little has changed about the player's immediate future.Where will Fabio Carvalho be playing football next season? Let us know what you think in the comments section below...But whether he'll still end up at Anfield next season is another question, especially with the prospect of a tricky tribunal to navigate. There's now time for Fulham to potentially renegotiate terms, and even convince Carvalho to sign an extension, though that remains unlikely at this point. The feeling in both camps is that the England U18 star will be a Liverpool player next season,

Liverpool lodge £5m Fabio Carvalho offer to Fulham - and will let him stay for season
Liverpool have launched a bid of around £5million for Fulham wonder-kid Fabio Carvalho. The Reds are eager to sign the 19-year-old winger on a permanent deal before the end of the window despite the Cottagers’ head coach Marco Silva ruling out his imminent departure. The Mirror report Jurgen Klopp would be willing to let the Portuguese-born star return to Fulham on loan until the end of the season if an agreement is reached, with his current contract set to expire in the summer. That would be of great help to the Championship side who are currently leading the division and pushing for promotion.Carvalho, who represented England at youth level, has been at Fulham since he was 14.He has decided against signing a new deal with the west London side while various other clubs like Borussia Dortmund prepare to poach him for free in the coming months. But Fulham are keen to receive a fee for Carvalho, making Liverpool’s offer a more attractive proposition for the club. However, should he move to another English club in the summer, then an independent tribunal could have to rule on a fee.Do you think Liverpool will sign Carvalho before the end of the window? Liverpool eye £5m January deal for Fabio Carvalho - but bad Fulham relations a problem
Liverpool are looking to land Fabio Carvalho for a paltry £5m with his contract at Fulham expiring this summer. However, the west London side are still not happy with the Reds after relations soured between the two clubs over how the Harvey Elliott transfer was conducted.Jurgen Klopp is not the only player interested in the Portuguese ace with West Ham also in the race. And Fulham might prefer their London rivals to Liverpool simply because they are less than happy with them for bullying them into giving up top talent Elliott on the cheap.Carvalho has been in rampant form for the Cottagers this season, scoring seven and assisting two in the Championship. He is the latest production from the club’s academy but the 19-year-old’s contract is set to expire this summer and he has no plans to renew. It means Marco Silva is set to lose the highly-rated starlet for nothing - unless he is sold this month. And according to The Sun, Liverpool have taken up a major interest in his services as they scour the bargain bin.Despite being a major talent, they are ready to make a bid worth just £5m - forcing Fulham into an uneasy decision. But they have not forgot how they were forced into selling the Anfield outfit Elliott - the last top talent to come out of Motspur Park.In a similar-shaped deal, the youngster was set to leave at the end of his contract while Liverpool swooped in.Rules state that clubs are entitled to compensation if they lose a player under the age of 24 for nothing for developing and training him.Fulham demanded £7m for Elliott but Liverpool refused, with the Professional Football Compensation Committee ruling on their side by pricing the teenager at an initial £1.5m with a further £2.8m in future payments as well as a 20
