Aberdeen have struck a club-record deal with Liverpool to sell rising teenage star Calvin Ramsay. The 18-year-old defender is set to move to Anfield on a five-year contract for a fee which could bank the Dons as much as £5.5million, eclipsing the sum received from Nottingham Forest for Scott McKenna.Our colleagues at The Mirror report a £4m bid with a potential £1.5m in appearance-based add-ons has been accepted by the Pittodrie club.Dons sources stated they had wanted to hold out for £8.5m, with £5m up front.Ramsay was voted Scottish Football Writers' Young Player of the Year last season as he impressed in his 33 appearances despite a miserable season for Aberdeen.

And his displays caught the attention of Jurgen Klopp, who is now set to add the young Scot to his ranks. He will become Liverpool 's third signing of the summer after they snapped up Darwin Nunez from Benfica and Fabio Carvalho from Fulham.

Ramsay is set to join the first-team squad straight away but is still viewed as one for the future. The Premier League giants were keen to praise Aberdeen for their professional approach in negotiations for Ramsay, with the Scottish club driving a hard bargain in pushing the fee up from the Reds’ initial valuation.

Funds generated from the Ramsay deal will now help Jim Goodwin put together his own summer business as Aberdeen look to rebuild under their new manager.Ylber Ramadani has already arrived from MTK Budapest and the club have scouted his team-mate Bojan Miovski and Odd Ballklub forward Tobias Lauritsen.
