Sam Fender continues to tease another new album, says he’s “desperate” to make a punk album
Sam Fender has continued to tease another new album, saying that he is “desperate” to lean into more of a punk-inspired sound going forward. The comments from the Geordie singer-songwriter come as he shared his highly-anticipated third album, ‘People Watching’ last Friday (February 21) – which contained four of his previously released singles: ‘Remember My Name‘, ‘Arm’s Length’, ‘Wild Long Lie’ and the album’s title track. While in a new interview with The Sunday Times, Fender opened up about the inspirations that came into the songwriting process, and how his upbringing has shaped his view of the world around him.One of the most intriguing parts of the discussion, however, came when he revealed that he has already got much more unreleased material, and is already setting his sights on a new release.According to the article, Fender showed the interviewer that he had “dozens” of currently unheard demos on his phone and was eager to show them. “Do you want to hear some? It’s what gives me life,” he said. The piece goes on to state that one of the tracks that he played and sang along to during the interview was titled ‘Drugs’, while another was called ‘Hornsby’ because it was inspired by American singer-songwriter Bruce Hornsby.“I’m buzzing! I’m just singing at you!” he added, also going on to say that he was “desperate” to make a full-blown punk record soon.
