DC Black Pride‘s Opening Reception at the Westin Hotel on Friday, May 24. The reception, which runs from 5 to 10 p.m., will be hosted by comedian Anthony Oakes, with performances and appearances by Keith Angelo, Bang Garçon, Black Assets, Marcy Smiles, and Sherri Amoure.The legendary DJ Sedrick will spin at the event, which will be headlined by comedienne Paris Sashay.Held annually over Memorial Day Weekend, DC Black Pride features four days of educational workshops, a resource fair, and parties at various D.C.-area clubs and recreational areas, including Fort Dupont Park in Southeast D.C.This year’s theme is “Black Pride Forever,” and promises a four-day weekend full of social and educational events starting Friday, May 24 and ending on Monday, May 27.DC Black Pride’s Opening Reception will be on Friday, May 24, from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Westin Washington, D.C. Juneteenth, several entertainers of color will perform at the Hollywood Bowl on June 19, which is set to air live on all CNN platforms.Juneteenth: A Global Celebration of Freedom will include performances from Earth, Wind & Fire, Michelle Williams, Robert Glasper, Jhené Aiko, Billy Porter, Mary Mary, Lucky Daye, Anthony Hamilton, Yolanda Adams, Killer Mike, the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, and the Re-Collective Orchestra; marking the first time an all-Black orchestra will perform at the Hollywood Bowl stage since it opened in 1922.In addition to rocking the stage with The Roots, Questlove will also serve as the event’s musical director with Adam Blackstone, CNN reports.“It’s a moment to celebrate and reflect on Black independence and the Black experience,” Shawn Gee, President of Live Nation Urban said in a statement.  “It’s also a moment to raise awareness and shine light on the miles we still need to travel to true equity.”Juneteenth is a remembrance of the slave’s emancipation in 1865. This year will mark the second year it will be celebrated as a national holiday, after President Joe Biden signed the bill last year on June 17, just two days prior to the date.

FOX teases upcoming country music drama series plus new Gordon Ramsay cooking show at 2022 Upfront
FOX Entertainment is taking on 2022 with TV shows on everything from country music to crime and cooking. Charlie Collier, the CEO of FOX Entertainment, detailed what's to come on the network, including the previously announced "Monarch," which will star Trace Adkins and Susan Sarandon.  The show is about "three generations of a country music family juggling life's rawest emotions — love and lust, hate and heartache, living in the shadow of your parents and coming-of-age," Collier described before previewing a clip of "Monarch." "MasterChef" Gordon Ramsay is set to debut his new competition show, "Gordon Ramsay's Food Stars," and will also have his series "Next Level Chef" premiere after the Super Bowl next February.  In "Food Stars," Ramsay will front $250,000 of his own cash to find the "next big culinary entrepreneur."
